The recipient of a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles, Brett Shaves is a real estate development executive who began his career in 1995 as a manager at Chevron Corporation. He spent five years in this capacity, during which time he developed the strategic network plan for its southwestern region, which comprised 8 territory managers, 32 team members, and more than 300 retail locations. In addition, Brett Shaves played a vital role in the launch of the company's acquisition department and drove a 20 percent increase in its Southern California market share between 1997 and 1999.

In 2000, Brett Shaves founded Newport Beach, California-based Pacific Coast Development. He served as its president until 2011, during which time he acquired land for the development of more than a dozen commercial buildings and residential communities. He has also invested in and developed commercial and residential properties through Emerald Pacific Corporation and Urban Village Development Company.

Brett Shaves presently serves as president of Newport Commercial, LLC, where he leverages his investment and development experience to manage a portfolio of long-term holdings, including an industrial warehouse project in Central Maui, Hawaii. He sold the holding company's first project for a 45 percent return on investment. Supplementing 25 years of relevant experience, he holds membership with professional organizations such as the Urban Land Institute and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
